I wasn’t familiar with The Chapman House until we had to find a place for my aunt to live. I quickly became impressed with their facility and the staff. They are so friendly, caring and accommodating and kept us well informed. They took such great care of my aunt, which was so comforting to the family.

May 2025 Announcement

Dear Family Member:

May is a month of renewal and flourishing as temperatures warm, flowers bloom and leaves become alive on the trees. At the Chapman House, efforts continue to deliver the utmost effort in resident contentment.

As the weather gets warmer and family events are planned, residents go out with family members more frequently. Terrain or lighting may hinder perceptions of surfaces and distractions occur. These changes contribute to the risk of falling. If your loved one falls when on an outing with you, please inform staff immediately upon returning to the building. Staff monitors residents after a fall occurs and injuries sometimes show a day or two later. Communication is key when striving to provide excellent care.

Gil, Food service, along with activities department, is planning a nice Mother’s Day breakfast for the residents. With the nicer weather approaching, Gil also plans to do some outside grilling. As part of our innovative goals for dining, implementing the ability to offer a glass of wine during special events. Our residents have asked and we were able to make it possible.

REMINDER: Gil, the Director of Food Service, will be changing the process for managing our snack cart beginning May 1, 2026. Included with this newsletter you will find a copy of the new Snack menu. The 2:00 pm snack menu items will be available in the Activity room. The 7:00pm Snack cart will go to each lady’s room as is the current practice. The snack cart consists of the menu items for that day. Items available in the Activity kitchen, twenty-four (24) hours a day, are Pudding, Jello, Apple Sauce, Oreos, Peanut butter crackers, and Lorna Doone cookies.

Our Registered Nurse coverage is undergoing a transition. If you were coordinating care with the registered nurse, please reach out to Bonnie, Administrator and you will be directed to the staff member best suited to assist with your concern or need.

On Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 5:30 -7:00 PM, Dr. Thomas Hattan will present an educational session on end-of-life care and choices. The Chapman House plans to offer family members the opportunity to share resources, conversation, and learn together through these monthly meetings. To achieve this goal, however, your help is requested. Please complete and return the attached sheet wherein day of the week, time of the day and potential topics may be suggested. You may drop the sheet off, email or mail it to me. Your input is crucial in planning this meeting for you. Your time to share ideas is appreciated.

The hope is to continue to collaborate with you and your loved ones for the best and most satisfying experience at The Chapman House. Please share any input or suggestions you may have with us. The Staff Members and The Board of Directors want to thank all our residents, families, and vendors for enabling us to make The Chapman House a home.

Warm Regards,

Bonnie J. Iwans
