I wasn’t familiar with The Chapman House until we had to find a place for my aunt to live. I quickly became impressed with their facility and the staff. They are so friendly, caring and accommodating and kept us well informed. They took such great care of my aunt, which was so comforting to the family.

Chapman House July Announcement

Dear Family Member:

Our hope is that you and your loved ones have been relishing the beautiful weather. The residents have been enjoying the warmth with opportunities to participate in sitting in the courtyard, going shopping, enjoying a day at Bailey’s Island, and attending a concert in the park. Our vegetable garden is planted, and bird feeders have been added to the courtyard for resident entertainment. A rosary activity and Bible Study have started at The Chapman House as well.

The ladies can view the fireworks from our front lawn on the Fourth of July. You are invited to join in this activity. Please bring a chair. A Garden Party will also be happening on July 24, 2024, commemorating the history of The Chapman House. Please watch for your invitation and let Sheryll Seger, Activity Director, know if you can attend.

Please join us in welcoming two new staff members. Brandon Smith has joined us as our Maintenance Director and Taylor Vachon has joined us in the kitchen.

Since the new roof is complete, the Maintenance Department has placed new patio umbrellas outside. The Maintenance Department has set up our screen gazebo in the courtyard, creating a pleasant sanctuary for the residents.

New Admission Packets: Our Admission Packet has been updated. If your loved one was admitted prior to June 10, 2024, you and your loved one will be asked to sign a revised copy. A copy will be provided to you. Bonnie Iwans, Administrator, will be reaching out to you to schedule a time to accomplish this task.

Department of Human Services mailings: If you receive correspondence from the Department of Human Services, please share this information with Deanna Bragan in our Business Office. By working with Deanna regarding this information, your loved one’s coverage and accounts will allow for accurate and efficient usage/results of these benefits.

Transportation: if you are transporting your loved one to the doctor’s office, we MUST receive the written doctor’s orders from the appointment to facilitate proper care of the resident.  The doctor’s progress note MUST be sent back to the staff so modifications (if any) can be made to our individualized plan of care.

Please communicate with Michelle “Shellie” Kennison at wardclerk@chapmanhouse.org or by calling 207-783-0961 regarding transportation needs for resident appointments. Please give Shellie, our Ward Clerk, two (2) weeks’ notice to plan appointments. We welcome family involvement with transportation.

Electronic Upgrades:

Thank you for your patience while The Chapman House is upgrading our phone system. With the step toward a modernized system, communication with our staff will be efficient and easy to manage when reaching out to staff.

Hair Care needs: Pauline, our new hairdresser, will start on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Sheryll, from activities, will be coordinating with Pauline to assure a fun-filled experience in our beauty salon.

The Staff Members and The Board of Directors want to thank all our residents, families, and vendors for enabling us to make The Chapman House a home.
