I wasn’t familiar with The Chapman House until we had to find a place for my aunt to live. I quickly became impressed with their facility and the staff. They are so friendly, caring and accommodating and kept us well informed. They took such great care of my aunt, which was so comforting to the family.

It’s like living in a grand hotel. The Chapman House is full of spirit, laughter, and through reminiscing we bring back memories of the past. Check out our activities calendar to view upcoming public events you can attend.

February 2026 Announcement

Dear Family Member:

Since the Groundhog saw his shadow, winter will stretch on for six more weeks. However, Maine weather is unpredictable to say the least so Mother Nature may bring warmer weather quicker than the Groundhog’s prediction showed. Days are getting longer and regardless; Spring will soon be making an entrance.

The Maintenance Director is encouraging residents to keep thermostats at 75 degrees as much as possible to keep the flow of heat consistent during this cold snap. A reminder that due to regulatory and safety requirements the following are not allowed in resident rooms: extension cords, heating pads, electric blankets, portable heating devices. Wax burners, candle melts, candles, or plug-in air refreshers are prohibited.

Please communicate with Michelle Kennison at wardclerk@chapmanhouse.org or by calling 207-783-0961 about transportation needs for resident appointments. Michelle will schedule appointments within her time on duty to best accommodate residents’ transportation needs. Michelle will transport residents if family members are unavailable, however, advanced notice is required for us to plan for proper coverage for the appointment.

Please mark your calendars: Our family meetings will resume in April of 2026. These meetings provide a forum to meet and connect with other families whose loved ones live at The Chapman House. All gatherings are confidential and include conversation and/or educational topics requested by you. I am excited to share that Chris Foss, Administrator of The Andwell Hospice House will be joining me to discuss the topic of Cognitive Loss/Dementia on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM in the activity room at The Chapman House. Please contact me if you want more information or plan to attend.

The hope is to continue to collaborate with you and your loved ones for the best and most satisfying experience at The Chapman House. Please share any suggestions or ideas you may have with us.

The Staff Members and The Board of Directors want to thank all our residents, families, and vendors for enabling us to make The Chapman House a home.

We are privileged to be of service.

Warm Regards,

Bonnie J. Iwans
Administrator
